# T1D Strong

T1D Strong is a community-driven platform dedicated to raising awareness about Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) misdiagnosis and early detection. Our mission is to empower individuals living with T1D and their families through education, advocacy, and support.

## The Problem

* 50% of T1D cases occur in adulthood
* 30–40% of T1D patients are initially misdiagnosed as having Type 2 Diabetes
* Many adults face years of incorrect treatment due to outdated beliefs that T1D only affects children
* Misdiagnosis leads to severe complications including diabetic ketoacidosis, retinopathy, and even death

## Our Solution

T1D Strong is developing an accessible, cost-efficient at-home DNA test to accurately distinguish between T1D and T2D, addressing the critical gap in diabetes diagnostics. Selected as a finalist for the 2024 American Diabetes Association Innovation Challenge.
